There is a rumor in the East of Ukraine amongst employees of government financed organizations and employees of plants and mines that belong to SCM/MIH/DTEK Holdings about a “Maydan repair tax”.

The amounts vary from source to source – 10%, 30%, 2 days salary, etc.

That is why the Ministry of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine officially stated that they never made such decision. They said “If this tax would exist it would have to be approved by the Supreme Council of Ukriane “Verkhovna Rada”. Therefore, these rumors are pure provocation”

Moreover, Alexandra Tomashevskaya, the head of Kiev Center of Business Support and Development, proved the absence of such initiative from the government. She stated “Any changes in law have to be made through the voting of ministers. If law is approved it has to be published. Any law has to be present of the official website of the Supreme Council of Ukraine «Verkhovna Rada» and published in the official press like “Holos Ukrayiny” (“The Voice of Ukraine”) or “The official Bulletin of Ukraine”. The law about the official tax for Maydan repairs does not exist.

Later the refutation came from SCM Holding. The Director of PR and Communications, Natalya Yemchenko, said it’s a blatant misinformation that the employees have to pay the tax for Maydan repairs. She said “Dear colleagues, only today I have received more than 10 questions like “is it true that employees of government financed organizations and employees of plants and mines that belong to SCM/MIH/DTEK Holding will have to pay a “Maydan repair tax”. The amounts vary from source to source – 10%, 30%, 2 days salary, etc. I answer that this is not true and people working there know this. If you want, speak to the labor unions”

She added “I am shocked by such a wide spread of this misinformation. I rarely ask for something, but now if you are for unified, strong and independent Ukraine do not spread information like that. Every single repost of this information is against strong Ukraine. If you can message me on Facebook about sources of this disinformation please do so. It is important for us to put an end to the spread of this ridiculous news.
