Ukraine Crisis Media Center has launched a free online course “Disinformation: Types, Tools and Countermeasures” for all those willing to learn how to recognize disinformation and become more resilient to it.

This online course was made by the leading experts at Ukraine Crisis Media Center in partnership with the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, Euromaidan Press and Stop Fake NGOs with the support of the United States Agency for International Development.

The course will be useful for both newbies and more experienced learners, especially for journalists, students (in particular, in the fields of political science, journalism, media communications, sociology) and teachers, civic activists, government officials, and members of local communities.

Through the five modules of the course, the participants will:

  • gain an understanding of what disinformation is, what its main structural elements and instruments of dissemination are;
  • compare how various actors use disinformation;
  • receive the practical skills in recognizing the key narratives of disinformation and fake news;
  • explore the real-world examples of how disinformation was used in Ukraine for reaching the political goals of Russia.

The lectures include real-life cases and the latest research data. There are practical tips and recommendations at the end of each module. The participants will also have access to additional materials and resources. After the successful completion of the course, they will receive certificates.

The course is already available via Prometheus, the biggest educational platform in Ukraine, in the Ukrainian language with English and Russian subtitles.
