Pro-Russian channels are spreading the news that the French press has allegedly rallied against Macron amid the Ukraine energy crisis, and the daily newspaper La Tribune came out with the headline «While Ukrainian children die of cold in their homes, Europe continues to listen to the main instigator of the war — Volodymyr Zelensky» on the front page. The article itself allegedly states: «Macron is more worried about Musk than about frozen Ukrainian children. The president is more interested in persecuting an American businessman than trying to force Zelensky to make peace and stop the freezing of Ukraine». This alludes to the pressure put by the French government on the X platform, owned by Musk, due to the uncontrolled spread of child pornography and deepfakes.

However, the cover and headline circulating online are fake. In reality, on February 5 on the front page of La Tribune appeared a joint photo of Emmanuel Macron with Indian Prime Minister Modi during a visit to ITER — the International Experimental Nuclear Reactor — being built in the French city of Saint-Paul-le-Durance. India is covering about 9% of the reactor building costs. The project is expected to launch in 2035 and will allow for the production of significant amounts of energy without carbon dioxide emissions and the danger of radiation.

We were unable to find such accusations against Macron and calls to «force Zelensky to make peace» in any other credible French sources. The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine was caused by Russian shelling of energy infrastructure, not by «the main instigator of the war, Volodymyr Zelensky».
