An action “Feed the Communist” did take place in Chernigiv. Activists exchanged a loaf of bread for a Russian St. George ribbon (which was not a medal during the war). However, nobody accepted real medals from actual veterans.
Antifascist also falsely reported that the new powers in Ukraine “took away the holiday from veterans, having abolished Victory Day.” This is untrue. Ukraine will continue to annually celebrate Victory Day over Nazism in World War II. This is fixed in the law that the Supreme Rada of Ukraine adopted in April 2015. In addition to Victory Day, the Ukrainian parliament decided to celebrate the Day of Memory and Reconciliation every May 8.
