The video cited by the propagandists was fabricated, and the statistics are not true. This was confirmed by a representative of the German Internal Affairs Ministry in a comment to StopFake.

Propaganda Telegram channels and media are circulating a video allegedly produced by the German Internal Affairs Ministry about the country’s sex crime problem. It claims that because of Ukrainian refugees, the number of rapes of women between the ages of 14 and 55 has skyrocketed — and Ukrainians are allegedly responsible for 64% of these crimes. The video goes on to list the reasons why Ukrainian men allegedly commit so many rapes; among them, in particular, a low level of integration into German society and mental instability.

However, this video, like the information in it, is fake. The first sign of this is the logo placed in the upper left corner. Although the propagandists claim that this information was shared by the German Internal Affairs Ministry, the text of the logo points to the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie (Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology). Such an institution does not exist. Instead, Germany has the BMWK — Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection), which does not handle either refugee affairs or criminal offences.

Second, a German Ministry of Internal Affairs representative, whom we reached out to for comment, refuted that the ministry created or published the video in question. Moreover, he claims that the statistics and explanations given in the video are completely fictitious and have no basis in reality.
