Russian media stole the video made by the Ukrainian forces. They tried to appropriate the hard work of the Ukrainian warriors rescuing the civilian population, which suffered as a result of the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant.

A video showing a drone delivering water to a woman with children went viral on social media and Russian sources. Due to the occupiers blowing up Kakhovka HPP and the rapid rise of water, the family was trapped in the attic of their own house, located in a temporarily occupied town in the Kherson region. Russian media claim that the affected Ukrainians were assisted by Russian servicemen, who allegedly do everything in their power to help residents of the flooded villages in Kherson region.

The viral video in which a drone delivers water to victims of the Kakhovka HPP being blown up by the occupiers  is real. However, Russian propagandists stole and appropriated it from the Ukrainian social media segment. In reality, the video shows the work of the Ukrainian military. The footage shows a woman with her children trapped in their own house in the occupied part of the Kherson region, catching water delivered by the Ukrainian military with a drone. This video was published on June 7 at 1:30 p.m. by the ‘Operative ZSU’ Telegram channel.

On the morning of June 8, the Ukrainian State Border Service confirmed the video to be real. The State Border Service said that a Ukrainian serviceman with the call sign Santa was conducting aerial reconnaissance in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region before the occupiers blew up the Kakhovka HPP. After the disaster, the fighters shifted their focus to helping civilians. Ukrainian forces began to deliver water, food and messages to Ukrainians by using drones.

That’s how the video from Santa’s drone was filmed. Moreover, the State Border Service reports, it was his drone that escorted the evacuation team. Ukrainian fighters conducted an operation to rescue the woman and children seen in the video. The occupiers did not even try to evacuate the residents of the left bank, which was flooded as a result of the Russian terrorist attack.

‘At the moment, people are safe. I am especially glad that the lives of the children were saved. Ukraine is everything!’ – the State Border Guard Service quotes Santa’s words.

A video with a drone delivering water to people in the occupied part of the Kherson region has already gone viral online and garnered tens of thousands of views. A day after the video was published, the Russian media took credit for the operation.

The Ukrainian authorities report that the invaders completely failed to evacuate the civilian population of Kherson region, which was under occupation. In some settlements of the Kherson region, the water level has reached 7 meters. And yet the Russian military is not even trying to evacuate people. Instead, it is hindering Ukraine’s efforts to save the civilian population in every possible way, said the Kherson Regional Government speaker Oleksandr Tolokonnikov.

At the same time, on June 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in the Kherson region on a working visit. He held a coordination meeting on eliminating the consequences of the Kakhovska HPP being blown up by the occupiers, inspected the path used to evacuate the population from flooded areas, and visited one of Kherson’s medical institutions, which currently also serves as an evacuation point.
