The meeting between Presidents Zelensky and Trump is officially scheduled for September 22. Pro-Russian sources are deliberately recirculating outdated information, presenting the schedule-coordination process as a “refusal” to paint a picture of Ukraine’s diplomatic isolation.
Social media and Russian media outlets are spreading claims that “Trump is not planning to meet with Zelensky during the UN General Assembly” and that the Ukrainian president is “not on the list” of the American leader’s bilateral talks.
In fact, the bilateral meeting has already been officially scheduled. According to international outlets, talks between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky will take place on Tuesday, September 22. This information has also been confirmed by the Ukrainian side: earlier the leaders held a phone call, following which a direct agreement on the meeting was reached.
The claim that Trump deliberately ignored Zelensky is also untrue. Reports that the Ukrainian president was “not on the lists” did indeed appear in the infospace on September 18–19, when delegation schedules were still being finalized. However, propaganda networks on Telegram deliberately continued to spread this information even after both teams officially announced the upcoming meeting, presenting a temporary working pause as a final diplomatic refusal.
According to European Pravda, at the talks in New York, Zelensky plans to discuss the outcomes of these meetings, diplomatic efforts to end the war, and a “winter support” package, including additional air defense. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said earlier that one of the main results of the meeting could be the achievement of an energy and maritime truce.
